The project had some vast implications on underprivileged people and Antaheen Foundation's first initiative on the health sector. Our mission in the project was to help the needy to have “Free Eye Cataract Surgery”. The surgery is a replacement surgery of the natural lens, which has signs of developing or developed an opacification and creates weaker eyesight. It is a normal and safe process to have a better vision. However, the surgery is only applicable if the patient has blurred vision. Diabetic patients are usually suggested not to undergo surgery for their better.

Our inspiration for the project was when we witnessed the older generations having difficulty seeing, and the needy are unable to do anything despite their desperate situation of most probably losing vision. So we decided to approach the idea as our 10^th project.

In collaboration with Nation Group BD, Seventh Dice, Chevron Eye Hospital and Research Centre, Chattogram, and our partnership with Dr Shahadath Hossain, we launched our project Light. Starting March 2021, this project was 1 month long, where our main idea to receive patients were through referrals from Prime Members, random messages on Facebook. Before conducting the surgery, the patients have a thorough check-up on their health and eye condition. Upon approval, they are taken to the emergency room for a 20-30 mins operation. Afterwards, they are given free medicines from the project to be used after 24hrs. The next day, patients revisit the hospital and have another check-up and medicine application for a final verdict of the operation's success.

In 2 months of the project running, we successfully provided Free Cataract Eye Surgery to 72 people in Chattogram at Chevron Eye Hospital and Research Center. We believe we have witnessed the happy and satisfied smile on the patients whom we served as our prized possession and our inspiration to do better and have a more significant project in future.

প্রজেক্টর জন্য আমাদের অনুপ্রেরণা ছিল যখন আমরা দেখেছিলাম যে পুরোনো প্রজন্মকে দেখতে অসুবিধা হচ্ছে এবং অভাবী মানুষরা সম্ভবত তাদের দৃষ্টিশক্তি হারানোর হতাশাজনক পরিস্থিতি সত্ত্বেও কিছু করতে পারছে না, আমরা আমাদের দশম প্রকল্প হিসাবে এই ধারণাটির কাছে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি।

ন্যাশনল গ্রুপ বিডি, সেভেন্থ ডাইস, শেভরন আই হসপিটাল অ্যান্ড রিসার্চ সেন্টার, চট্টগ্রাম এবং ডক্টর শাহাদাৎ হোসেনের সাথে আমাদের অংশীদারিত্বের সাথে, আমরা আমাদের প্রজেক্ট লাইট চালু করেছি। মার্চ ২০২১ থেকে শুরু করে, এই প্রকল্পটি ছিল ১ মাস দীর্ঘ, যেখানে রোগীদের গ্রহণের আমাদের মূল ধারণা ছিল প্রাইম মেম্বারদের কাছ থেকে রেফারেল, ফেসবুকে এলোমেলো বার্তা। অস্ত্রোপচার চালানোর আগে, রোগীদের তাদের স্বাস্থ্য এবং চোখের অবস্থা সম্পর্কে পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করা হয়, অনুমোদনের পর তাদের 20-30 মিনিটের অপারেশনের জন্য জরুরী কক্ষে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। পরবর্তীতে, তাদের 24 ঘন্টা পরে ব্যবহার করার জন্য প্রকল্প থেকে বিনামূল্যে ওষুধ দেওয়া হয়। পরের দিন, রোগীরা আবার হাসপাতালে যান এবং অপারেশনের সফলতার চূড়ান্ত রায়ের জন্য আরেকটি চেক-আপ এবং ওষুধের আবেদন করেন।

প্রজেক্ট চলার 2 মাসের মধ্যে, আমরা সফলভাবে শেভরন আই হসপিটাল অ্যান্ড রিসার্চ সেন্টারে চট্টগ্রামে 72 জনকে বিনামূল্যে ছানি চোখের সার্জারি প্রদান করতে পেরেছি। আমরা বিশ্বাস করি যে আমরা রোগীদের খুশি এবং সন্তুষ্ট হাসি দেখেছি যাদেরকে আমরা আমাদের মূল্যবান সম্পদ হিসেবে সেবা দিয়েছি এবং ভবিষ্যতে আরও বড় প্রকল্প করার জন্য আমাদের অনুপ্রেরণা।
